Each year Pantone delights and surprises us with the announcement of their prestigious Colour of the Year. Designed to connect with the zeitgeist and represent a snapshot into the moods, attitudes and cultural activities of society, the Pantone Colour of the Year sets trends and influences the direction of the design world.
2016 is a significant year as the colour masterminds have declared not one, but TWO colours for the year ahead. Rose Quartz 13-1520 and Serenity 15-3919 blend together to give a softer mood than previous years with an ambition to create a "soothing sense of order and peace" says Executive Director of Pantone Colour Institute, Leatrice Eiseman.
When considering these colours in the fashion world, I am excited at the thought of soft, feminine fabrics with a lightness and elegance about them; however how could this translate to the interiors world without creating rooms only fit for children or elderly woman who host tea parties?
I am indeed delighted and surprised! I have discovered that both colours - whether as a duo or used as a star in their own right - can beautifully integrate into a vast array of interior styles and colour palettes.
Paired with metals, featured in table settings or used to create warmth in minimalist spaces, the options are endless for giving your home a small injection of the latest colour trend.
