Yet another year has been welcomed to our calendars bringing with it predictions and forecasts for new trends and new design influences. Much anticipation awaits the announcement of the Pantone Colour of the Year to set the tone and base colour for interior trends. 2020 is not just a new year, but also a new decade. This colour choice will set the mood for the decade ahead.

The Pantone Colour Institute has announced that its 2020 Colour of The Year is PANTONE 19-4052 Classic Blue, a deep blue shade that is both comforting and relatable.

Laurie Pressman, Vice President of the Pantone Colour Institute, commented in an interview with TIME that “it’s a reassuring blue, full of calm and confidence. It builds connection.”

Pressman said that Pantone felt that the colour highlighted dependability, trustworthiness, credibility, and constancy, all traits that are valued in the fast-paced, high-stress situations of the current world. She also pointed out that the deep blue matches that of the sky at dusk, which provides an apt example of why this colour can resonate with so many people.

So how can Classic Blue be used in the home?

Paired with metallics and rich textures, Classic Blue brings a regal and formal look to the home space.

For those who prefer a more laid back, coastal feel to their interior space we have found Classic Blue is the perfect contrasting colour for crisp whites and natural hues.

In our world, our Breakwater Bath Towel sits within the Classic Blue family and can add a subtle yet striking touch of confidence to any stylish bathroom space.
