The temperature has finally dropped and there is no disputing that Winter is officially here. Our home becomes our cocoon during Winter. The place we hibernate within for warmth and comfort.
Whilst we would love to just stand under a hot shower and wrap ourselves in a Sunday Minx towel until the warmer days are upon us again - that really isn't a realistic solution!
Transitioning your rooms from Summer-cool to Winter-warm is actually easier than you may imagine and can be done with ease. Here are just three simple updates for creating the perfect Winter interiors, that will have your home feeling cozy, chic and delightfully inviting, whilst saving on water bills!
1. LAYER UP
The simplest way to achieve instant warmth is layers, layers and more layers. Create interest by selecting varying textures for your cushions, throws, rugs and bed covers. Think velvet, chunky knits, wool, furs and alpaca. You will create a cozy wonderland filled with warmth you will never want to leave!
2. GET MOODY
Winter interiors call for darker shades throughout the home. Charcoal, greys and chocolate hues are traditional colours that add warmth and moodiness. This season, navy and emerald green are also proving very popular. Offset the darker tones with dusky pink, duck egg blue and crisp white for contrast.
3. LET THERE BE LIGHT
Warm lighting instantly creates a comforting and snug atmosphere. Glowing table lamps and candles will provide a soft and intimate mood rather than the bright lights more suitable for the Summer months.
Who said Winter needs to be long and miserable? Embrace the season with nights in, comfort food and curling up in your Winter-friendly and ultra stylish abode, worth coming home to!
